Hot

I put jalapenos in my eggs this morning, so the day started off hot.  UPS delivered a workout DVD to me just after breakfast, so I got to it.  After my workout I played Just Dance 4 on the Wii for 45 minutes or so.  Nicely sweaty I laid on the couch till lunchtime.

Ruben of course wanted nothing to do with me working out and playing Just Dance, he was out riding bikes with his friend Tristan.  They looked at me curiously, then left.  Then they came back and looked at me curiously, then left again.  Yes Ruben's mom is working out / dancing in the living room with the door open wearing short shorts. I'm now the "weird mom" I'm sure.  Maybe I already was. Oh well, as long as I'm still the mom who makes the best cookies.

So there I was sweaty and laying on the couch when Ru comes in with a bandaid on his head just over his right ear.  He's doing his freak out thing where he won't talk because he doesn't want to cry, and he has slivers all over his hand from landing in the bark. So I finally get him to tell me what happened (at least part of it). He had fallen over on his bike and landed on another bike's handlebars, that didn't have grips on them.  The end of the metal tube that makes up the handlebar had hit him just above his ear and sliced him a curved cut.  He also has a big lump.  I am still amazed it wasn't worse.  He was so lucky it missed his eye... or any other part.

So I had him take a shower to clean his head wound, and I plucked the slivers out with tweezers, and I laid him on an ice pack and he watched a funny movie, "Hoodwinked 2". He was ready to go two hours later.

I bought a bed yesterday, a fixer upper, and I needed to pick it up.  My friend Stacey fortunately offered to let us borrow her truck so we met her at her church to pick it up.  Stacey and her husband Greg are both ministers at the Foursquare gospel church.  We got to listen to some great music while we waited for Greg to come with the truck, their worship band was tight.  The girl playing keyboards was Ruben's babysitter. He was surprised to see anyone he knew.

So we picked up the bed without incident, well except for the board that fell out which we went and picked up later in my car. Then we had sushi dinner at Momijis.  Ruben always orders Salem rolls which are utterly delicious.  Its a sushi roll with fake crab, avocado, and cream cheese coated with rice.  Then that is deep fried and coated with a spicy mayonnaise sauce.  I had raw fish.

We went to Walmart to get snacks for tomorrow (hiking) and the items I needed to make the new bed look sharp.  While at Walmart Ru thought I should try the health machines.  It was nice to not hurry, and it was hot at home anyway. We didn't get home till 10, barely enough time to clean up, skype Freddie, and read a bedtime story.

I've learned that it doesn't matter how late I get Ru into bed, if he doesn't have a bedtime story he ends up staying up later, because he can't fall asleep.  Then he comes whining into my room.... anyway, I don't mind reading.  We finished "Little House in the Big Woods" tonight at 10:40 pm.  I was thinking of reading another little house book next.  He falls asleep fastest to something slightly boring. The last book we read,  "A Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy", kept him awake with excitement so that wasn't such a good choice.

Ouch

My friend Stacey is in the white shirt in the middle, and Ruben's sitter Lindsey is on the end.

I'm great,

but my feet are standard.
