Silver Falls / Disk Golf

We slept in this morning, and after a while our friend Jeremy came up to go hiking with us.  He took us out to breakfast and we headed for the falls.

Silver Falls State Park is really beautiful.  Today it was extraordinarily crowded, but the way we were looking at the trip was just to check it out, not to spend the entire day. Its only about half an hour from my house.  Neither of us had ever been there, and it might be a great place for an all day hiking adventure, or a camping trip.  We went to south falls, and hiked around the waterfall.  It was breathtaking.  The mist clung to our hot skin.  We took the walk around behind the falls, and decided that was enough hiking for a crowded hot afternoon.  Driving back we decided to scope the campground to find the best sites and likely reserve one for the end of the summer.

Behind the falls.

We were wearing flip flops which splattered mud up the backs of our legs. We stopped to clean up. Or maybe it was just an excuse to play in the stream.

We were pretty hungry after our waterfall adventure but the sushi restaurant didn't open until 4pm so I suggested shopping for a dress for mom's wedding.  As you might expect the boys were less than thrilled but we only had to wait 45 mins and the store was air conditioned so they reluctantly agreed. I found not one dress but two. We quickly gobbled up our supper and went by my apartment to get frisbees.

Sushi dinner.  What would you expect from a boy?
About half a mile from my apartment is a disk golf course and it seemed like a lovely idea to spend an hour walking through the shady woods near our home throwing disks at little chain baskets.  Well Jeremy and I had a great time, but Ru got pretty frustrated by the trees jumping in front of his frisbees.  We played 9 holes and called it a day.  When we got home Jeremy headed back to Springfield and Ru and I had some lovely down time watching "Top Gear" (a BBC show about cars that we just can't stop watching) and snacking on watermelon.
Disk golf was frustrating.
