Camping at Baker Bay

Ruben and I did some shopping on Monday before we took off for our camping. Ru spent some of his birthday money on a boat.  I spent money on a bigger tent, camp chair (yes I should have bought two) and an air mattress.  On Tuesday morning I somehow managed to get all of our camping gear into my car, or onto my car.  I used bungee cords to hold it all together and we took off with the top down to beautiful Dorena Lake. We got a honks and thumbs ups on the freeway!

We checked into our huge campsite right on the lake and immediately started to unpack.  Ru was excited about his new boat and blew it up right away.

The lake beside our campsite.  We tethered a boat to the shore so Ru could drift about a bit.
Ru and I finished setting up the tent then went for a float in the boat. Soon my mom and Jeff came to join us with their camper.  I whipped up fajitas for dinner and we took off for the first of many sunset boat rides.  Jeff did a little fishing, and was unsuccessful at catching our breakfast fish. (This is a good thing in my opinion, breakfast fish sounds kind of icky)

Checking in with the world, with my morning coffee.

I'm a surprisingly good boat driver. Ru is flying a kite.

Ruben's birthday kite.
Highlights of our trip:
  • Jeff's delicious fire roasted chicken, and Mom's delicious rice
  • Peanut butter cup smores
  • Flying Ru's kite from the boat, and chasing it down the lake when it broke free
  • Spending an afternoon floating / being pulled along on the water on my air mattress
  • Playing and singing Woody Guthrie songs around the campfire with Mom, Aerielle, Jeremy and Jeff
  • Astounding Aerielle with camp stove Jiffy Pop
  • Ruben's joy of firebuilding
  • Evening boat cruises
  • Taking pictures with the underwater camera
  • Afternoon naps
  • fifty cent showers
  • And did I mention my hair looks terrific... lol
