Riverfront Park / Carousel

Riverfront Park
Today after a leisurely morning that stretched into midday (The hawk got buzzed) we took off to explore downtown Salem and see the riverfront.  We found riverfront park and took a walk.  It was hot and muggy and bright, but the sun had disappeared in the haze. We found a fountain with lots of children playing in swimsuits.  The water smelled like bleach it had so much chlorine, and at first Ru was hesitant, but soon he had removed his shirt and was frolicking.

When the fountain stopped (it came on again 10 minutes later) we wandered to the carousel.  It was beautiful and Ru enjoyed a ride on a horse named Morning Glory.  He didn't grab a brass ring, but he grabbed 4 other rings.

I'm in this picture...

We stopped at the playground for some hang time, then wandered down past "The Willamette Queen" a sternwheeler that does expensive lunch and dinner cruises. On the dock Ru watered his feet.

Ru took this with his underwater camera by putting it under the water looking up.
We left Riverfront Park then got in the car to cruise downtown. We walked all over, looking at music stores, antique stores, delis, and then came home to barbecue some hamburgers and corn.
