Reno

Cab planned a  trip to Reno for us. Not just for desert sunshine, time away from kids, and to party for a few days, but also because he lived there for a while and wanted to visit some friends. It was a fantastic trip from start to finish. (Ruben went to visit Grandma, perhaps I'll have him write a post about what they did.) 

We stayed at Grand Sierra Resort which is a ways from downtown. After checking in we headed to the pool. It was really hot (wonderfully hot) and after 30 minutes basting on each side I was done. I headed upstairs and got this picture of Cab sunbathing down below. We were on the 23rd floor. 

He is to the right of the pool in the blue trunks. See him?

I don't remember the exact order of the rest of the days, it had to do with day drinking, gambling, eating in nice places (and divey places), touring, sunbathing, and evening drinking. 

On Friday afternoon we drove to Virginia City

Not my picture. I actually decided not to bring my camera as it's heavy and I look ridiculous carrying it. This place was swarming with tourists and very entertaining. 

And on Saturday he took me to South Lake Tahoe

I liked the drive and the lake, but it was strange to see so many people crowded into one small beach. Cab said it reminded him of Florida. Nature didn't seem to mind the people, there were families of geese and other shorebirds wandering among the crowds.

I loved this picture till I realized my right hand looks like it's about to turn and claw his face off. 

We were at the Peppermill waiting to meet his friend and former student and I was eating street tacos. Street tacos in a fancy lounge are very different from street tacos from a food cart. 

30 minutes then flip. 

This was the only part of Reno Ruben would have liked. A climbing wall outside a casino. 

I got an email from the alto section on Thursday asking if I would be at practice. I sent this picture in reply. "Nope".

My friend Elke has three Scotties. I sent her this picture and wrote, "Cab and I are staying at GSR in Reno. I guess they don't like Scotties for some reason." Her reply "What Dicks". LOL

We left early Sunday. Very Early.

We are already planning out next adventure. It may turn out to be a big one :) Cab is an excellent companion, traveling and otherwise.
