Midweek Fun Day

Ru and I worked hard Tuesday and Wednesday to get the apartment cleaned up. We really hadn't cleaned well since spring. It felt good to get everything dusted and put away. Wednesday night we drove around getting Ruben the remainder of his supplies for camp.

On Thursday we woke up really early to get Ru to meet the camp busses. He's headed to Antelope Oregon with YoungLife.  They are a Christian organization. He'll be back on Monday evening.
Saying "Camp" is misleading, its really more of a resort. There is a water park with slide, mini golf course, pools, sand volleyball, all you can eat gourmet meals, and cabins with real mattresses and bathrooms. The promo:

Thank you to Grandma Kathy for the help with funding. Ru and I copied all her VHS tapes to DVDs in exchange for money for his camp. ($6 each if you need this service)

Not riding in an old school bus this time!

I was reminded of this raunchy clip from "Meatballs". I hope Ru isn't king of sexual awareness week! The camp almost costs $1000 per week though. Good thing he's only going for four days!

As soon as Ru got on the bus I got a call from my friend Ron. He is visiting from New Mexico and came by in his borrowed VW bus  to take me out to breakfast. We went to breakfast at Busick Court downtown and had a nice chat. He's planning to move here next summer! It will be great to have a new guitar player to jam with!
When we got back to my apartment Ron attempted a few repairs on Arlo (the VW), but was unsuccessful. He'll have to continue driving with both feet, the carburetor was not adjustable. I had fun keeping it running while he tinkered. It was such a sweet ride ;)

I worked on my papers for my online classes after Ron left, and then about 5:30 I cleaned up for a dinner party. Cab was hosting a party for his visiting friend, a federal judge. Conversation flowed as freely as the beverages. One of Cab's friends has plums and apples for making wine, and another has blackberries. Everyone liked the blackberry wine I brought. When the guests left Cab and I shared a bowl of popcorn and I headed home.

I'm blessed to have a good air conditioner. I slept so well!

Another interesting thing that happened today... I was feeling pretty pissed off about living in a dumpy apartment with such high rent so I put in a maintenance request to have a bunch of little things fixed around the apartment. Ben the handyman came and installed a new toilet seat, fixed the downstairs toilet, replaced a broken light cover, cleaned the mold and repainted the upstairs bathroom and replaced the exhaust fan, and he replaced the broken light socket in the shed. I was pleased. If they would replace the torn up linoleum in the kitchen and downstairs bathroom it would be a much nicer place. I'll ask next week ;)
