I parked at the base of Heceta Head lighthouse and we left my car there. Then we carpooled to the Hobbit Trail parking lot and took the trail up to the lighthouse. It was another beautiful day, warmer than yesterday and with slightly less wind. We easily made it to the top of the ridge and down the other side to the lighthouse. We got our red and orange cards and took the lighthouse tour. The tour guide said that there were whales in the bay but we looked and looked and didn't see any. We made a quick stop for mustard and came back to the house to make sandwiches.
After lunch the kids were excited about boating and took off on the little boat with the trolling motor. Ru wasn't sure he wanted to go so he sat around all alone playing on his tablet, then took off after them in a kayak. I took the opportunity to find a sunny spot and bask.
After a while I got overly warm so Jeremy and I took a canoe trip out to see what the kids were up to. That immediately made them come back to the dock because it wasn't cool having the old folks bugging them. It was funny though, they had taken snacks with them and seemed ready to mutiny.
They even took my prunes, but left them in the bottom of the boat.
We had a delicious dinner of barbecue and I sauteed some veggies and made salad. We built a fire and sat around on the back porch playing music while the kids made smores.
