Home for a bit

Thursday morning Ru and I got up early to take the car to be serviced. There was a recall out for an airbag sensor, not the shrapnel issue I heard about in the news, but still important.  So we headed to Wilsonville Toyota and arrived at 9:15 just as it was heating up.  They told me it would take three hours so we grabbed the backpack and went for an urban hike.  Well, Ru would probably call it an enforced march.

We walked over a long bridge with some wetlands, then up a hill by some farms, then past the weirdest housing development I've ever seen. I expected the Stepford wives to come out and share recipes, or the kids to start bouncing balls in unison. Actually it was mostly deserted. We stopped at a fountain, and a park, saw a mountain, and got back 2 hours later, just as my car was finished. (3.8 miles) I'll have to come back soon for more maintenance, I've put 20,000 miles on it already.

On our way back Ruben and I decided to invite his friend Nick out to see a movie.  Furious 7 was playing at Northern Lights. We picked up Nick, then went to Winco to load up on candy to sneak into the theater.  We also bought ingredients for Ultra Nachos.  (another of my favorite recipes). The movie was fantastic...yes cars do fly.

I loaned my car to Fred because he was traveling to Eugene and could really use the AC and I took the kids to the theater in his car.  He neglected to tell me that the gas gauge doesn't work, and I got trapped in the seat belt and had to crawl out.  Man I love my car.

At madrigal rehearsal we went over our set for Saturday (World Beat Festival 5pm Salem Waterfront Park, be there or be square) then left quickly.  I couldn't really sleep, it is really hot in our apartment.
We've almost used up the tube Ru and I have so many bites from camping.

Jumping up to whack the branches. He called these particular trees "Whacking Trees" .

I read this plaque aloud as we passed by, I couldn't quit giggling and saying "Tonquin Scablands" over and over in a bad James Earl Jones voice. Try it. Its fun with a bad British accent too.

Creepy art installation/masks

So, Friday I was up at 6am, doing dishes, washing laundry and hanging it outside to dry, watering the lettuce, and otherwise taking care of business.  I refashioned a men's tuxedo shirt into a cute swimsuit cover up.  It would be a cute sundress if it weren't entirely see through.  I buzzed Ru and Fred's heads, and Fred got called in to work so he took Ruben to his dads along the way. I was left alone in the sweltering heat, without my car with AC. So stayed home and I sewed.  It was a frustrating afternoon, nothing fit right. I did however determine that sitting in a 95 degree house was not fun and asked Fred to drop by Lowes (He gets an employee discount) and pick up an air conditioner.  He did, but he got the wrong one.
Sad face
Some tears.
It was a long hot frustrating day
Free haircuts today in the kitchen

His head looks so nice and round without the hawk

I sewed this top today, it would look great if I had a chest.
My plan for tomorrow is not to do what I did today, and not forget to go check in and sing at 4:15.
Sunday afternoon I'm going to pick up Ru and head someplace with water. Monday I get orthotics made, Wednesday is Jeremy's birthday, and Thursday is Ruben's birthday. Next Sunday (July 5) we head to the Olympic Peninsula. I haven't made any fourth of July plans yet, I was thinking of leaving for Washington early, but traffic will terrible.

Oh if you don't have it on your calendar already plan on coming to the Canturbury Renaissance Faire. near Silverton. It runs Saturday and Sunday for two weekends in July.  July 18-19 and July 25-26. We will be performing two shows per day in full garb. Perhaps you could also see Janet the Harper or Adam the Bawdy Juggler.
