26 Woke up in the captains quarters, cooked Dave breakfast, went to work in the garden spreading grass. Emily made bomb sandwiches then we went to work clearing a path to the sauna. The bamboo in the back of Daves house was highly devastated by the storm, and because of the river rising, the bamboo took a lot of damage. There was also debris from all around that stuck to the bamboo making the bamboo fall over. The path to his sauna back there was impossible to pass through. We did some work on the mess and got to the point where the normal path was mostly cleared, but all of us were exhausted from the labor and were hungry for dinner. Dave offered blackberry and plum wine for our troubles that evening and we watched one of the young Indiana Jones TV movies called Treasure of the Peacocks Eye. The movies plot includes a treasure (the gem), and the weird eyepatch guy did in fact want the gem at the same time as them. It's a really poorly implemented moral-bound story which doesn't reach a conclusion, he apparently needed to "follow his dream" and go to college so their wasn't any treasure to collect. We had an enjoyable time watching it despite this and was surprised at the crude nature of the tribal islands at the end. Worried about weather, we had saved ourselves a spot at Dave's outdoor sleeping location: The Captains Quarters ( Pictures Below).
27 Woke up, cooked Dave breakfast mom helped with wine and showered till the Starr family came down from Salem for a hike. Brice creek trail in the clouds, then drizzle, and by the time we left it was raining. Back to dave's packed up the remaining items and bikes and Ru drove to Springfield in crazy traffic, Cafe yuck then mom drove home. Unpacking and falling down exhausted.
The roof on the Captains Quarters fell from the storm damage so it had to be propped up and partially rebuilt. Some parts of the building were just held up by a jack.
My mom and I were worried about sleeping with the spiders outside so we made sure to keep the pillows underneath the blankets before we slept. Although, I didn't even see any spiders so I believe it is just a myth.
This is the after picture of some of the weeding and bamboo cleansing we did at daves.
We offered to mow the grass down near the river and bamboo area but Dave said he didn't want us to, and the grass got stepped on so often it didn't seem necessary. The grass was approaching hip length when we first got there to camp out.
Dave is a real Facebook guy, and it is probably for the best because he needs to keep track with people he knows from around the globe.
Workin the strings with the accompaniment of Dave's drum.
Bad bed selfie!
The kids all found decent walking sticks in this area

Tree Carnage 2
We were hiding on a rock ledge so the rain wouldn't hit us.
Every large bridge needs a picture like this.
Jenkins wasn't happy to see us when we came back, which was sad. We were sure happy to see our furry friends again though!
