I did about as well as usual, so far over par I don't count.
A parent kindly gave me a gift card to the taphouse in our neighborhood. Cab and I met some teacher friends there after they got off work on Friday.
Later in the day Cab and I hung out with friends then had a date night, while Ruben spent time on screens.
Saturday the 15th Cab got me a new phone, one that could do a mobile hotspot so that I could blog on the road. I packed all the camping gear, clothing, bikes, workout gear, gardening tools, instruments, and stuff I thought we could possibly need, and we headed south by 5:30. We stopped at Cafe Yumm in Springfield and made it to Dave's in time to set up tents before dark.
On the way south I saw a school bus full of pinatas. I asked Ru to take a picture. He got this one, but said the driver was wearing a dusk mask, and was looking at him. That would have been a more interesting picture.
Arrival at Dave's
We got up on Sunday morning and started the weeding/watering. The potatoes were hidden among the weeds.
Weedy potatoes
Ru and Dave. Dave was mowing the field opposite his house in order to have grass clippings to mulch the rows of plants in the garden. Ru and I would weed till we heard him drive up, then get the clippings and spread them in the garden. Repeated so many times I lost count.
After a full morning of weeding, watering, and learning the routines at Dave's, we went to town to see Ruben's dad Jeff. He has an apartment downtown above the barbecue place. I LOVE his cute little apartment. He has so much to look at in his little space.
Jeff and Ruben have been trying out hot sauces. You can see them on the table. They are arranged by hottest to still hot.
We took Jeff out to dinner for Father's day. We had Mexican food at a local restaurant.
Monday the 17th after finishing the watering, I drove Dave to the airport. On my way home I made two stops, I went to Valley River and got my eyebrows threaded, and I went to Winco to buy camping/staying at Dave's food.
My morning view
Last night's view
When I got back from shopping, Freddie came over and we went out on the boat. We drifted, chatted, Ruben swam, and then we played a game of UNO that went on for 4 decks! I won ;)
Even with all the flooding, the Corps of Engineers didn't manage to fill Dorena Lake. They are going to have everyone take home their boats by the end of June. There isn't even enough beach to put the Hobie out, without scraping off the bottom of the hulls. Some brave person brought theirs out, but not me.
