California Adventure Day!
We we're in the park when it opened at 8am and headed right for Guardians of the Galaxy (formerly tower of terror). It was very well done but I still hated it. It actually started a headache which grew slowly until sometime after lunch when it actually forced me to medicate and slow down.
I'm getting ahead of myself.
We rode ALL the rides at California Adventure with the exception of Goofy's Sky School because it sucks, and the caterpillar train in bugs land because it really had nothing to offer us, we aren't toddlers.
We watched ALL the shows. Frozen the stage musical was good, but not as good as Alladin was. The Guardians of the Galaxy dance off was fun, and It's Tough to be a Bug was entertaining. Ru and I talked like a turtle with Crush. Dude.
We rode Radiator Springs 3x. California Screaming 3x. There were very short lines. We we're fortunate to time our visit to coincide with a huge Disney convention (like comicon for Disnephiles) that was held at some convention center.
Out maximum wait time was 20 minutes in the fast pass line of Toy Story Mania, but no other ride was more than 15, and most we're 5.
I wore a cheap plastic poncho on Grizzly River at 9:30am and was glad about it when everyone else was soaked, even though I looked ridiculous.
The updated Soaring Over the World was fantastic. We agreed it was better than the old California one, but I missed the smell of the orange groves.
The highlight of the day for me was the three course lunch at Carthay Circle. The restaurant is gorgeous, modeled after a 1920s theater. Service and food rival the best meals I've ever had. Seriously go her instead of Blue Bayou. Our lunch also got us tickets to World of Color, in the best center section.
Our waitress brought Ru a Birthday dessert. It was a salted caramel truffle crisp with gold flakes. Real gold. He was impressed.
Anyway we didn't take a break at the hotel today. We left at 7:30am, and got back at 10pm. We watched shows as a break instead.
World of Color was a great show. I'm glad we saw it, and more glad we had a reserved viewing area. We still had to stand though.
