Canterbury Weekend 2

Friday was a day of unpacking, cleaning, organizing, blogging, and finally putting new songs on my Spotify playlist.  I took a long long shower, and then printed some music and took off for Preston's house. We worked up about six songs that we could possibly perform together.  He says his new guitar friend will be a good fit, and that the three of us could perform as a trio.  I'll save the songs we are working on as a surprise, but its an interesting mix. Its mainly blues, and jazzy folk.

Saturday Ruben and I stopped by Trader Joes for snacks and then picked up his friend Nik.  We drove to Canterbury, about 30 mins from home. We got there plenty early before my show, then we watched some other performers, but really all the boys wanted to do was eat.  I gave them both 8 bucks, but seriously they could have easily eaten $50 dollars worth of food. Note to self, before taking boys to places where food is expensive, take them to the all you can eat place.

So we watched some shows, and the boys endured some madrigals, but neither was really into it and they were starved so we left right after my second set and a juggling demonstration. We dropped off Nik and Ru and I sat around exhausted for the rest of the evening.

The fine lady Elke

Nobody carried a purse during Elizabethan times, so I got this lovely basket.

This learned lad was reading a book about far away lands.

A sad ending

Sunday morning my friend Jodi drove up from Eugene to go to Canterbury with me and Ru.  She didn't have a costume so I let her borrow my sexy pirate costume.  She looked so pretty with her long red hair.

We got to Faire at 11am, and we laughed at the juggler, ate hot dogs, (once again everyone but me was starving) and then watched the joust. I had to leave mid joust to sing, and Jodi and Ruben wandered over to watch. We were giggling about the Blue Knight later when he walked past us shirtless. All of a sudden we were drooling teenagers and we followed him around for ten minutes waiting for him to scratch an itch so his lats would flex. Whoa. We got back to reality and I sang my second set. We chatted with my friend Elke for a while, and did some excellent people watching.

Since we didn't see the first joust through to completion we watched the later joust.  Jodi had saved Ru and I seats right at the ring side. While the knights suited up with their armor Ru and I competed in the parent child dance competition.  We looked good, but we were in between sections, so we didn't get picked.

Today in a surprise twist the Blue Knight was killed off early, and after quite a struggle the Green Knight was victorious over the Black Knight.

We drove home after that, Jodi went back to her life in Eugene, and I cleaned and packed for sailing on Monday.  It was a restful evening.
