Canterbury Weekend 1

Every year Salem Madrigal Singers performs at the Canterbury Renaissance Faire.  The Faire runs two weekends, so this was the first of the two weekends.

Saturday I woke up as late as possible and got dressed in my costume.  I drove to the Faire and got there a little early.  I waited with the other performers to get our performance schedule then when it was passed out I realized I needn't have hurried.  Our performance times for both days, for both weekends were 1pm and 2:30pm.

I was all by myself, (Ru with his dad, and no men to escort me) so I watched some shows, flirted with some knights and the juggler, and bought a snood.

Preston had invited me to come back and play more music on Saturday but I was exhausted.  I spent the evening at my computer watching episodes of Good Mythical Morning episodes on YouTube and cleaning out my inbox.  I also switched domain providers from GoDaddy to Google (which resulted in a site outage for a few hours) and got my website/blog situated better.

On Sunday I went to Brownsville to meet Jeff and pick up a cranky exhausted Ruben.  He was a wreck.  He had gone to the carnival yesterday, stayed up too late, and his tablet (which he LOVED) got broken. So Ru was less than pleased to hear that Sunday would consist of
1. Bathing and putting on his costume
2. Eating quickly
3. Going to the Ren.  Faire
4. Grocery Shopping
5. Laundry
6. Packing

Less than pleased. So I fed him some chips and hummus and we made the best of it.  We didn't do much at  the Ren. Faire but eat DELICIOUS ice cream and watch the juggling show. I did my set but missed a couple of entrances. I'll have to practice before next weekend.

This group had lots of period instruments, but they sang with cordless microphones.

The Blue Knight won the Joust and kindly agreed to be photographed with me.

I adore the Hurdy Gurdy Man.

A collection of cool instruments.  I loved the one string lute!

I didn't take the following pictures, they are from the Statesman  Journal:

My Champion

Our next adventure is to:
Monday: Get the Hobie fixed, and Tuesday: leave for the southern Oregon coast (Humbug State Park Campground) and  perhaps have a jetboat trip.
