Maui Thursday

Day started with coffee and then a snorkel session in the bay outside the condo. It was raining as I walked into the water. I swam around for a while, and when I looked up to see how far out I was I found myself right in the middle of the bay, looking at a double rainbow. I couldn't go back and get my camera, but I found this picture online, of the cove with a not quite as bright rainbow. Just imagine me bobbing around  in the middle of the cove looking at that!

Once when I looked up I saw the head of a green sea turtle a ways away from me, it was huge. It was just far enough away that I couldn't see it through the slightly cloudy water, so about 20 feet. I know that some people like to swim next to turtles but the massive hulk lurking in the water I couldn't quite see... I swam away from it.

I got out, and didn't dry off because Cab was ready to hit the beach. We packed our cabana kit into the jeep and went to Kapalua beach. It was pretty empty when we got there at 8am, but by the time we left at 1pm, it was packed. Our Lyft driver told us later that it was ranked the best beach in the world. I wouldn't know about that, but it was awesome.

And because I have the link, Friday's beach: http://www.surf-forecast.com/breaks/Flemming-Beach-Park/webcams/latest

I snorkeled a little, and Cab and I swam a few times. It was low tide and not a good time to bodyboard with the rough coral bottom, so we just bobbed in the waves.

After a short trip back to the condo (5 mins) Cab swam in the pool while I relaxed, then we had lunch (the pineapple was everything it was said to be), and drinks, and got ready for the evening.

We had tickets to the Feast of Lele : https://www.feastatlele.com/

The show and the service did not disappoint us a bit. Tropical beverages included with a 5 course meal and a show. Impressive in many ways.

the drummers

On the way downtown we walked by the giant banyan tree.

We took an Lyft both to and from the show, and the drivers were very much tour guides telling us stories and driving us through the most interesting parts of town. 5 stars.
