Beginnings of Summer 2016

Wednesday the 15th was a half day, half cleaning and frantically trying to get work done with kids, then a nice lunch with Bob and Stacey, and then another half day of cleaning and trying to frantically trying to get work done so I could come home and clean and frantically try to get work done.

Thursday was the same, insert get grading finished, and without the lunch. I worked more than seven-twelve hour days the last two weeks. And with exhaustion came a decrease in productivity which didn't help. When I left on Thursday the counter was clean, but I still wasn't finished. It was hard watching most of the other teachers handing in their keys, interrupting me to talk about their great summer plans, while I trudged on. I even skipped the fun staff breakfast because I couldn't spare the 2.5 hours of time to be social.

Assuming I would be finished with work by Friday, I had made an appointment to have maintenance done on my car. After some sleeping in Ru and I had breakfast and drove to Wilsonville. We dropped off the car and went for a walk. Last year we had a great time walking in the strange new subdivisions of giant houses with no yards, and parks in which nobody plays. It was a similar experience this year, but with a few notable exceptions. We found a basketball in the bushes and played some 1-1 for a while, I found that I had stashed some homemade salted caramels in my backpack, and we said hi to a very decorated construction worker/transvestite.

The salted caramels were hand made by one of my coworkers. Seriously I don't think Ive ever had a more delicious candy.

We walked about 5 miles, the car was done, and I went back to Judson to finish my work and turn in my keys. I celebrated by dropping off Ruben at his dad's house, coming straight home, taking two ibuprofen, and going to sleep by 7:30pm.
The counter was clean. That never happens during the year.

Ru was impressed that there was a drinking fountain that actually worked.

Cab said I have good follow through.

Ru and I have a running joke about the Tonquin Scablands. You had to be there.

A half eaten hand made salted caramel. I tried to savor it and eat it slowly but it didn't work.
