Ruben's Birthday at Silver Falls State Park

Ruben said it was a great birthday. He woke up and opened the presents I got him, three new Tshirts and a video game controller that has a USB end so he can use it with his computer.  He immediately went to try it out.  I was able to get in a quick workout while he played, then I cooked him his favorite breakfast, hot dog pancakes. I use cornbread mix for the pancakes so it tastes like corn dog.  Of course you put syrup on top though, not mustard.

After breakfast we packed our swimsuits, snacks, hiking supplies, and water bottles. We picked up Ruben's friend Abraham and went to fetch lunch supplies at Subway. The boys got the kids meals that have the tasty chocolate milk.

We got to Silver Falls at about 11:30.  We got a text from mom saying that they were running late and wouldn't be able to meet us until 1pm, so we decided to hike the South Falls loop.

After our hike it was 12:45 pm so we decided to have lunch.  We got out our chips, cookies, fruit,  sandwiches, pop, and dug in. There were some birds nearby and Ru tried to feed one but it wasn't interested in his Subway bread.  As we were eating we saw Mom, Jeff and Max drive in.  Fred caught their eye and they came over to join us.

Presents had been brought to Ru and he happily opened them.  He got a very cool programmable bicycle light and board game from grandma and grandpa. We sang happy birthday and ate the cupcakes I had made yesterday (slaving away in the 100 degree kitchen). Ruben had chosen carrot cake with a cream cheese and gummy worm frosting.
