A Warm Week and Canturbury Renaisance Faire 2nd Weekend

We went to the library on Wednesday to check in with the summer reading program.  Ru had read enough hours to earn a prize.  He chose a make your own pizza kit from Papa Murhpy's.  He also got a nice book bag.  Ruben finished a Wrinkle in Time and is now starting Hunger Games.

Monday Ruben woke up with a headache and wasn't interested in going to swim lessons.  Tuesday Fred took him while I attended a First Aid/CPR class (its now 30 compressions to 2 breaths). They had a nice uphill bike ride and found a really cool hidden neighborhood park. We may picnic there sometime.  I took Ru to his lessons the rest of the week, and on Friday he was finally brave enough to dive off the diving board.  Here he is mid dive.  He said he doesn't like diving because his goggles come off and he always smacks some part of himself on the water and he gets water up his nose.  I bet he'll get better.

The next three pictures were taken at the same time on Friday the 25th.  I was working out lifting weights in the living room.  I looked outside and saw Ruben wearing a colorful sombrero that he found in the garbage and toting a nerf gun. I had to take a picture, and since I had the camera I also took a picture of Fred and had him take one of me.  Fred was sewing on his soon to be awesome pirate costume. Well in the picture he was cutting out the fusible interfacing to stiffen the facing.

I love the catsup and hot dogs shirt too.

He watches cartoons on his iphone while he sews

I was dancing as well as lifting weights
Friday afternoon Ruben went to visit Jeff and Fred left Saturday morning to go to a friend's party.  All alone Saturday morning I donned my garb and went to faire.  I took a picture of these hats, it will be my next sewing project.  Elizabethan ladies wore hats, and although I like wearing braids better, I can't do pretty braids on my own head.

I will make one like this, but in light blue.
Ruben wants to make this, its a seat made from an overturned bucket and a mushroom pillow.

My favorite musicians at Faire

I'd never seen a Hurdy Gurdy man before.
On Sunday morning I went to kickboxing class and picked up Fred at the train station on my way home.  We got dressed in out garb and Jeff dropped off Ruben.  We arrived at Canturbury with only minutes till showtime. Here are some more Faire pics.
Just outside the pub was a performance artist...

Adorable Ru with a honey stick.

Fred having a beverage in the pub. He had just finished singing a rousing chorus of "What shall we do with a drunken sailor" with Janet the harper.

The black knight was my favorite, but I think the blue knight always won.
When we got home we needed to do some grocery shopping.  We changed out of our dusty costumes and the guy at the natural foods store said Ru looked like Vanilla Ice.  So I took his picture. What do you think?
