Pictures of the new apartment's new living room

My Amazing friend LeRina came over today, and with a tiny bit of help from me she turned my living room into a place someone would want to live. Check this out!

Sailing

Back to Baker Bay on Monday, to do some sailing.
It finally happened that we played the Mario Yahtzee so much we wore the pictures off the dice. Thankfully Fred had a sharpie.

We went do Dave's house to visit and pick our breakfast blueberries. He had us also pick potatoes and garlic so that's what we had for breakfast the next day.

He played on the swing for hours. Literally.

His first lesson.

Singing sailor songs.

Ruben is a natural sailor. He was turning the boat and sheeting in to maximize speed. There wasn't enough wind for hull flying... thankfully.

Although we had fun camping, we were ready to come home.

Ruben spent his birthday money on this computer chair. It was delivered while we were camping, and he unboxed and set it up the minute he got home.

The Garden

Thinking about what to plant in the new little garden.  I took pictures during the sunniest time of the day in order to see what type of grass to plant, then realized there isn't even enough light to plant grass. So shade gardening it will be.
Print this out and design a garden for me!

I will need to get topsoil. I've asked the landlord for 4 yards, my guess is I'll get nothing and have to buy it myself.

Thankfully the fence will be removed and replaced this fall. The ugly paint color will remain.
This was taken at 11am

I've been thinking of how to camouflage the ugly paint.

Funky Beats Initiative

Still working hard at learning the songs.  Today I bought the domain, funkybeatsintitiative.com. I haven't done anything with it yet, but I was just surprised it was available. So the FBI might get a website.

We've had several long Sunday rehearsals, and its always a good time. The guys are great, and Elke and I go together like peas and carrots.

Soon it will be gig time. Our first is a September wedding.

Our garage band will become a basement band in the fall.

Why I'm going digital. I've decided to use a tablet for lyrics and notes.

Camping With Kids

We went to the usual place (Baker Bay Park) and did the usual things (swim, boat, jam) but it's always more fun when you have new people along.

For this trip Ruben brought his friend Max. We just barely fit all of our camping gear in the car, but we made it and we had a terrific time. We stayed for three nights.

Day 1 We arrived, set up camp, and did some tubing.
Day 2 We hiked Lower Trestle Creek falls, played in Brice Creek, went back to the lake and did some tubing, played in the water, played on the swings, and the adults played music while children used up their remaining battery power in their devices.
Day 3 Kids biked the Row River trail from below the lake to the top of the lake while I ran into town and got snacks, water, and ice. After lunch we went sailing on the Hobie Cat, then watched a movie on the motorboat.
Day 4 We packed up and came home.

Watching a boat movie. But the movie wasn't about boats. I could have planned that better. Summer Rental would have been good, but we watched Weird Science.

About to start the fire and roast our dinner.

Kids getting a boat ride

It's so nice that they put swings up again this year!

Sandwiches are our favorite camp food

I did pull them fast later, but I didn't get a picture, because I was driving.

As soon as we got to camp the boys were on the bikes.
